Message from the Chairman

Dear Members,

Having just returned from the 35th Coastguard Association AGM, I should like to express my sincere thanks to the Burnham on Sea CGA for hosting and organising this year's event. We had a very positive meeting, and enjoyed an interesting and varied itinerary, and hospitality second to none. We are in a strong position to carry on the hard work and dedication of our predecessors and take the Charity forward. Special thanks must also go to the Chief Coastguard, Rod Johnson, for taking the time out of a very busy schedule to join us and for his most valuable input. I am delighted that the MCA are able to offer us their support and know that together we can move forward in the challenging and dynamic times that lie ahead.

Thanks also go to those of our members who joined us. Without their enthusiasm and loyal support we would not be in the strong position we are today. However, there are almost 4000 Coastguard personnel around the UK but fewer than 200 are members of the CGA. So why not get on board and join us - this is your Charity? Membership is only £12.50 per year and joining instructions can be found on this website. We're waiting to hear from you!

The virtue of the Association is never more apparent than in this economic climate. Over the years since the Association was formed, we have been able to help many colleagues and their dependents and with your help and support we can continue with our good work.

We have a charity that we can all be proud of and it is so important for each member to spread the news of our work.

On behalf of myself and the National Committee I send my best wishes to you and your families.

Stuart Arundel

National Chairman of the Coastguard Association
